This picture about the original Asian beautiful girl. Zhang Ziyi was born on February 9, 1979, in Beijing, China, and is the daughter of an economist father and a kindergarten teacher. Raised with her older brother in an urban, working-class part of Beijing, Zhang was originally interested in dance and gymnastics.

Her entry into the dance world came at age 11, when she was accepted to a secondary school affiliated with Beijing Dancing College. During the four years that she was trained in dance, she managed to pick up some awards, including one at the National Young Dancer competition.

Though her career accomplishments are few and her fame limited mostly to Asia, Zhang Ziyi is still miles ahead of anything we were doing at her age.

In 2000, Zhang Ziyi broke out with the success of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and she hasn't looked back since. She upped her fame factor with a role in the Jackie Chan-Chris Tucker buddy cop sequel, Rush Hour 2. In 2002, she reemerged in the spotlight with Hero, and again two years later with House of Flying Daggers. Zhang Ziyi also had starring roles in 2005's Memoirs of a Geisha and Good Cook, Likes Music, and she has continued to take on a number of roles in Asian films. With a slew of projects in the works for 2008 and 2009, Western audiences can expect to see a lot more of Zhang Ziyi.
